Prince N.F. Yusupov is a 1910 portrait by the Russian artist Victor Stember.
Prince Nikolai Felixovich Yusupov, Count Sumarokov-Elston (1883-1908), was the elder son of Prince Felix Felixovich Yusupov senior and Princess Zinaida Yusupova, and the elder brother of Felix Yusupov, who was instrumental in killing the infamous Rasputin.
Nikolai was killed on Krestovsky Island in a duel by a jealous husband, Count Arvid Manteuffel, on June 22, 1908. He never married. The Oxford studies, the February 1914 marriage to Princess Irina of Russia, the Tsar's only niece, and the daughter Princess Irina Felixovna Yusupova, nicknamed Bebe, born on March 21, 1915, all belong to his younger brother Felix.
Stember's portrait is dated 1910, two years after Nikolai's death, so it was painted posthumously for the grieving family. A portrait of Princess Tatiana Nikolaevna Yusupova (1866-1888), Zinaida's younger sister, who also died young, is attributed to Stember as well,1 which suggests the Yusupovs turned to him for memorial portraits.
The reference number in the Hermitage for this painting is #1532 (inventory ЭРЖ-1532), and it measures 134 x 89.5 cm.
1 Unconfirmed. A Wikimedia Commons file ("TatianaYusupova.jpg") credits Stember with this portrait, citing a news page of the Yusupov Palace on the Moika in St. Petersburg. That page returned an error when checked in September 2026, and no museum record of the portrait has been found.
